About

Wasted Movement Dance Project is a physical dance performance project based company under the direction of Eliza Frye and Robbie Weatherington. Eliza and Robbie are both graduates of Ball State University earning their BFA in Dance. They have presented work in Cleveland Dance Festival (Cleveland) and Love Moves Festival (NYC). While Wasted Movement takes inspiration from contemporary, partnering, and floor work, it also puts emphasis on focusing on the movement of people that is overlooked and often viewed as wasteful.  Every step, every gesture, every tic, and every embrace has value.

Mission Statement

The definition of the word dance can be reduced down to just a couple of movements. With this in mind, all movement has the potential to serve as a catalyst for meaningful choreography. While Wasted Movement takes inspiration from contemporary, partnering, and floor work, it also puts emphasis on focusing on the movement of people that is overlooked and often viewed as wasteful. Robbie lives with Tourette’s Syndrome, and often has tics that  can be annoying & embarrassing. Similarly, Eliza lives with anxiety and occasionally finds herself restless and shaking. With this in mind, even these movements are celebrated. All movement is sacred, and all movement is valid. Every step, every gesture, every tic, and every embrace has value— and the idea that all movement should be viewed this way is the cornerstone of Wasted Movement.
