Wasted Movement
Dance Project
Who We Are
The definition of the word dance can be reduced down to just a couple of movements. With this in mind, all movement has the potential to serve as a catalyst for meaningful choreography. While Wasted Movement takes inspiration from contemporary, partnering, and floor work, it also puts emphasis on focusing on the movement of people that is overlooked and often viewed as wasteful. Robbie lives with Tourette’s Syndrome, and often has tics that can be annoying & embarrassing. Similarly, Eliza lives with Anxiety and occasionally finds herself restless and shaking. With this in mind, even these movements are celebrated. All movement is sacred, and all movement is valid. Every step, every gesture, every tic, and every embrace has value— and the idea that all movement should be viewed this way is the cornerstone of Wasted Movement.
